The Irish Music Society of Oulu was established in the autumn of 2005 by a group of musicians and session goers to promote traditional Irish music and culture in Oulu and Northern Finland.
The goals of the society are:
- To promote and enjoy traditional Irish music in Northern Finland through regular sessions and concerts by local and visiting musicians
- To organise teaching for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about Irish music and culture, Irish dance, and the Irish language
- To support the playing of Irish music by local bands, artists and all music enthusiasts whether beginner or experienced
- To give opportunities for musicians and Irish music enthusiasts all over Finland to network, share information and play togetherWe further these goals by organising a variety of events and activities, including concerts, small gigs, sessions, music workshops and courses, dance courses, céilís, language courses, Irish culture presentations, storytelling events, as well as all the events included in

How you can get involved
We are a non-profit society and a large part of our work is done on a volunteer basis. If you'd like to support the work that we do, you can become a member, purchase some of our merchandise, or sign up as a volunteer.

Become a member
To become a member, email with your contact information and official hometown. The membership fee is 10€ and is valid for 2 years. Members receive discounts on festival tickets and selected merchandise.
